The farmhouse is definitely refreshingly different both in its decoration style as well as with the food and drink menu.
We had the roasted beet and rocket salad with goat cheese as a starter and then I ordered the grilled grass-fed Illinois skirt steak (see picture) and to finish a perfect dinner I ordered the blackberry,white chocolate bread pudding - all courses were extremely good and I was very happy with my choices!
I love that their food menu is one page long with a variety of interesting dishes all utilizing food from the Midwest. They also have an extensive beer list all brewed in the Midwestern region as well as lots of different gin drinks.
And when you are all done, they do not rush you out the door, we sat for a while until the waitress brought over the check - in an old book - which I thought was also a neat touch.

Aber nun zum Essen: Als Vorspeise gab es einen rote Beete Salat mit Ziegenkaese und als Hauptspeise ein "Illinois" Rindersteak und um das Essen perfekt abzurunden einen Nachtisch aus Pudding, weisser Schokolade und Brombeeren. Ich war aeusserst zufrieden mit dieser Wahl! :-)
Und was auch noch gesagt werden muss ist, dass wir nach dem Essen noch eine Weile gemuetlich sitzen bleiben konnten und nicht das Gefuehl hatten wir muessen sofort gehen - sehr europaeisch :-).
